Over the past 10 years the University of Wisconsin-Madison student body has grown from 43,000 to 52,000. And over that period of time, a Christian institution has become an established presence in the middle of campus, at 365 East Campus Mall. More than 70 local Christian ministries that have benefited from over $1.2 million in grants over the past decade now have a new place to turn for financial support: United Madison Christian Givers (UMCG). The roll-out of the new name and a new granting procedure took place Tuesday, January 28, at the InterVarsity building in University Research Park. Christian communities active on the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus were recognized in a short ceremony at Upper House on Wednesday, January 22, 2025. It came at the end of a presentation by UW Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs Lori Reesor, on the importance of religion at public universities. The audience of 50 or so was made up of men and women from 13 different ministries involved in campus ministry on the Madison campus. The Dwelling, a space dedicated to 24/7 prayer and a heart for Kingdom mission has opened up on Madison’s Northside. “The Dwelling is not rooted in any local church, but we are intimately connected with and members of the Body of Christ in Madison,” said Kate Boler, the lead of the core team. (Madison WI News Release) — The Madison Christian Giving Fund (MCGF), which has raised and donated to local charities over $1.2 million in the past decade, is entering 2025 with a new name, new partners, and a new, more dynamic grant process to deliver financial support to Christian ministries serving the needs of Madison area residents.
