It is a competition. People actually vote to decide which organizations get the top grant awards. But many of the organizations represented cooperate and work together to serve the needs of people in the Madison area. That was clear as United Madison Christian Givers (UMCG) held another of its regular Award Events on April 27, 2026, at the InterVarsity building. “We’re all Christians come together to do God’s work,” said UMCG CEO Diane Hanson. These quarterly gatherings draw together Christians from various local denominations and church communities who share a desire to find out how God is moving in the…
by Gordon Govier The meeting of the Wisconsin State Committe of the American Solidarity Party (ASP) at a Fitchburg restaurant Saturday started and ended with a prayer. “It’s our first big face-to-face meeting since COVID,” said state party chair David Bovee. The State Committee meets on a monthly basis and meetings post-COVID have been online up to March, 2026. A few items of business were dispatched, including election of officers. Much of the discussion focused on how to build…

The beginning of a new year is an opportunity to try something new. Some people make resolutions, some people just decide they’re ready for something different. Hallie Ringhand hears from some of those people this time of year as the owner of New U Health Coaching, a business she started 17 years ago. But when she has calls from people that she’s worked with from a New Age perspective, before 2022, “I tell them I don’t do that anymore. Now, I want to help people from a biblical perspective.” Hallie grew up in the east side of Madison, Jewish but…

Students and volunteers alike had to navigate a disruptive construction zone on the engineering campus, due to the…
