(Madison WI) – A unique Christian community website focused on the Madison area is now online in a beta release. The website, www.madisonchristians.com, is designed to be a practical home page for those who are interested in staying informed on how God is at work in our community.
The goal of www.madisonchristians.com is to facilitate unity in the body of Christ by providing localized on-line resources to advance the kingdom of God. To this end our desire is:
- To provide a relevant, positive, fun, easy-to-use internet experience for Christ followers in the Madison area.
- To build unity by attracting visitors into a comfortable on-line community.
- To enable valuable local connections between individuals, businesses, churches and ministries.
- To provide high quality, timely, relevant information, analysis, and resources for the community.
MC is non-denominational. Volunteers from a number of churches are working together on MC. "Our desire is that all who follow Christ will feel that MC is for them," said MC editor Gordon Govier. "The choice of ‘Madison Christians’ was not made out of any triumphal or exclusionary motive but rather out of a desire to see more unity within the Christian community of the Madison area." MC’s scriptural foundation comes from Romans 12:5, "In Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all of the others." [NIV]
As one might expect, a site like MC has links to local churches, ministries and businesses. It includes a daily devotional, a community calendar, and links to other online spiritual resources. But a distinctive of MC is fresh daily news content that will encourage users to visit on a daily basis. This includes national, international, state and local news as well as sports, business and tech news. But it also includes a major focus on events of religious and spiritual significance in the Madison area, as well as nationally and internationally, events which are often overlooked by mainstream media.
An official grand opening celebration for www.madisonchristians.com will be held later this year.
