A rainy Sunday at the end of a stormy week revamped Brat Fest plans for the last day of the 3-day festival. The music acts were condensed from three outdoor stages to one indoor stage, in the Veterans Memorial Coliseum. Brats were still for sale but Friday’s Take Your Brat to Work drive-through lanes were revived. And the cornhole tournament was moved to the Arena, starting right after the church service. The first call about a fire at the historic church, at 120 W. Johnson St., came in at 11:17 a.m., about 10 minutes after witnesses reported hearing an extraordinarily loud boom in the area, likely from a lightning strike, Madison Fire Department spokesperson Cynthia Schuster said. By Nicholas Garton – Capital Times – Christ the Solid Rock Baptist Church, a predominantly Black church in Madison, is looking for a new home after an alliance it formed with the mostly white Lake Edge United Church of Christ fell apart. Christ the Solid Rock has a congregation of about 300 total members, with approximately 150 attending worship services on Sundays. Lake Edge UCC currently has a membership of around 50 people.
