The Perspectives on the World Christian Movement is an opportunity for ordinary Christians to gain a global perspective on the spread of the Gospel around the world. Once again this unique opportunity is being offered to Madison area residents, featuring sessions taught by local residents who have global missions experience.
Perspectives participants strengthen their foundation in the gospel by learning from the history, the strategies, the theology, and the practices of the world Christian movement. They go deeper in understanding how God works in communities and discover more how to live cross-culturally.
With over 250,000 graduates, the Perspectives course serves as a basic cross-cultural ministry course both in the US and in other countries. The next Perspectives course begins Sunday, January 21, 2pm-5pm. Perspectives will meet each Sunday from January 21 through April 29 at City Church, located at 4909 E. Buckeye Rd., Madison.
There are 15 Sunday sessions led by key mission leaders, including:
- Tom Lin, President of InterVarsity Christian Fellowship
- Ruth Hubbard, InterVarsity’s Director of Urbana
- Bob Grahmann, International Ambassador for InterVarsity
- Robert Nordstrom, advocate for the least evangelized peoples of the world
- Scott Bessenecker, author of The New Friars
- Dr. Manohar James, founder of Serving Alongside/Redeem India
- Dr. Christine Jeske, author of This Ordinary Adventure and Into the Mud
The course can be taken on four levels: key readings, certificate, undergraduate, and graduate. Costs range from $250 to $500, depending on the level; partial scholarships are available. Credit is transferable from Trinity International University to many other colleges and universities. In the past, some University of Wisconsin departments have accepted Perspectives transfer credit from Trinity. Since the first week is free, you are welcome to “test the waters” before committing to the course.
Registration is ongoing at Perspectives.org. While the website answers many questions, potential students should also feel free to contact Kristi Barclay at kmfbarclay@gmail.com or Lee Wanak at 608-807-2275 or l_wanak@yahoo.com.
