Habitat for Humanity’s first Apostle Build home was dedicated Sunday, June 4, 2006. The new home for the John and Lori Severson family, on Buchner Court in the Twin Oaks subdivision, was a cooperative effort involving members of ten area churches. It began last October and now Habitat for Humanity Executive Director Brian Miller is looking for more churches to get involved in the next home.
“Our first Apostles Build which began last October was an outstanding success,” said Habitat Executive Director Brian Miller, “bringing many different faiths together to carry out the work of the Apostles and Habitat’s mission to build homes with God’s people in need.”
The ten churches provided the funding and organized the volunteers for the first Apostle Build. The churches involved were:
•
•
•
•
• Crossroads United
• Divine Savior United
•
• First United
• Monona United
• St. Luke’s
A number of the churches were represented in the dedication, with prayers from Rev. Chris Bethke of
Six churches have already signed up to be a part of the next Apostle Build Habitat Home project. Brian Miller says he is looking for six more churches, in order to have “the proper Apostolic 12.”
An informational meeting on Habitat’s next Apostle Build home will be held Tuesday, June 13, 7 p.m. at Blackhawk Evangelical Free Church, 110 Whitney Way,
