… we proclaim to you the eternal life which was with the Father and has appeared to us. — 1 John 1:2
Eternal life is a good thing. It’s as good as anything gets. But it’s not good because it’s really, really, really long. It’s not good because it doesn’t end. It’s good because it’s connected to a Person.
Years ago I was asking the Lord what heaven would be like. His answer was simple: "I’m going to be there and you’re going to be there. What else matters?"
As an aside: Some of us have loved ones who aren’t going to be in heaven. We deeply long for those that we love to be there with us, but what will wipe away our tears if they are not? Just this: He will be there.
What God was getting across to me is this: Does it matter if I have a mansion or a home in the country, if I get to write stories or make movies, if I finally get to listen to the music that I like, if I get all my favorite foods or if there’s going to be lots of chocolate in heaven? Jesus knows us better than we know ourselves. And He will be there.
Be encouraged!
