On Sept. 27, they’ll celebrate a relationship that has lasted 175 years and has no signs of faltering. Newport Evangelical Lutheran Church is located in Newport, and St. Paul’s Lutheran Church is a 10-minute drive down the road in Lewiston. “Our purpose is to keep spreading the word, the truth of God’s Word, from 1851 to 2026,” said Pastor Bill Grimm, who has served the congregation since 2003. The Perry Quilters of Perry Lutheran Church in Daleyville (SW Dane County) have completed an incredible 121 quilts this year! Throughout the month of August, these beautiful creations are decorating the church sanctuary. The quilts will be distributed both locally and through Lutheran World Relief. “We extend our heartfelt thanks to this dedicated group for the countless hours, care, and love stitched into every quilt. ARGYLE, Wis (WKOW) — Many gathered at Grove Lutheran Church Sunday for an outdoor worship service to celebrate the rebuilding of its church after nearly two years of planning. (WMTV) -Floodwaters crashed through the doors of First Lutheran Church on Friday night, trapping musicians inside as severe storms hammered Rock County. “We started to hear popping, and we ran to the front railing of the upstairs,” Biswabic said. “And all of sudden this big huge door with that thick glass exploded. It sounded like a bomb going off and everybody just about jumped out of their skin.” Biswabic and a handful of musicians had driven in from across the Midwest for a festival scheduled that night. However, over the years, members started feeling some growing pains. “We were a growing community, and it just wasn’t working for us anymore, so why not tear down the inside?” said a church member. Now empty, the single-story building at 3565 Tulane Ave. will soon be demolished for 26 lower-cost apartments and a new Eastmorland Community Center. The church’s two congregations, known collectively as Common Grace, have relocated temporarily to St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church in Monona but will return after construction to worship in the community center’s multi-use performance space. The service will run from 10:45-11:45 a.m. and will be followed by a Night Mares game at 1:05 p.m. The church service will be free and the game will have regularly priced tickets. BELLEVILLE, Wis. (WMTV) – A church near Belleville celebrated over a century and a half of history on Sunday. The Primrose Lutheran Church has hosted families and communities for the last 175 years. After forming in 1850 by Norwegian settlers, the church’s congregation split apart shortly after because of teaching disagreements. The two churches, which were only down the road from each other, eventually reconciled and rejoined about 100 years later. Read more of this story.
