(WMTV) – The 2024-25 Abundant Life Christian School’s boys basketball team was honored Friday with the Spirit of Sport award, to recognize their resilience and faith in the wake of tragedy. The National Federation of State High School Associations created the award and it is given to teams or individuals who embody qualities of resilience, sportsmanship and education-based athletics values. Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association (WIAA) and the Dairy Farmers of Wisconsin presented the award to the team, who was represented by head coach and athletic director Mike Thies. (WMTV) -Floodwaters crashed through the doors of First Lutheran Church on Friday night, trapping musicians inside as severe storms hammered Rock County. “We started to hear popping, and we ran to the front railing of the upstairs,” Biswabic said. “And all of sudden this big huge door with that thick glass exploded. It sounded like a bomb going off and everybody just about jumped out of their skin.” Biswabic and a handful of musicians had driven in from across the Midwest for a festival scheduled that night. (WMTV) – It’s a parent’s unending love and faith in God, that’s held the Garduno-Martinez family together in the 10 months since the shooting at Abundant Life Christian School. The Madison family has experienced some of the most painful times imaginable, as then 17-year-old Samy Garduno-Martinez, who loved cross country and spending time with friends, was one of the students critically wounded following the school shooting.
