NEWS RELEASE
The missionary church which will be organized as The Anglican Chapel of the Epiphany is under the authority of the Anglican Province of America (APA). Initial efforts include securing a place to conduct services and welcoming concerned Episcopalians seeking a traditional church. Additionally, to offer students a viable faith and a parish home for families wanting their children to develop strong traditional values and beliefs. The Rev. Earl R. C. Sias Th.D will serve as priest in charge.
Over the past few years decisions and actions in the Episcopal Church have displaced many Episcopalians. Recently many Dioceses and Churches across the country have requested alternative oversight from conservative Bishops and jurisdictions. In places without viable alternatives, many people have left the Episcopal Church. Father Sias and the APA are committed to providing and developing an alternative traditional orthodox structure here in Madison.
The APA was founded in 1968. Now headquartered at St. Alban’s Cathedral in Oviedo (Orlando) Florida, it is led by The Most Rev. Walter Grundorf, Presiding Bishop. The Anglican Province of America, which is a Common Cause Partner of the Anglican Communion Network, has established connections with other Anglicans in the World and on November 12, 2005 the Anglican Province of America, the Reformed Episcopal Church, and the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) entered into a Covenant Union with one another. And we pray for the day when all faithful Anglicans can be reunited fully as partners in the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Fr. Sias, his wife Ruth, and daughter, Madeline, live in Evansville. Fr. Sias was ordained a priest in 1970. Often serving as a bi-vocational priest, he has worked with the APA to develop traditional orthodox Anglican congregations that seek to fulfill the Great Commission mandated by our Lord (Matthew 28:16-20)! By being congregations committed to making disciples of all nations while remaining faithful to the historic Anglican traditions, the 1928 Book of Common Prayer, and Scripture.
