The Madison-based Freedom From Religion Foundation’s lawsuit that attempted to stop Texas Governor Rick Perry from sponsoring a Day of Prayer this Saturday at Houston’s Reliant Stadium was rejected by a federal judge last week.
The Houston Day of Prayer is called The Response – A Call to Prayer for a Nation in Crisis. A number of national religious leaders are associated with The Response, including Don Wildmon of the American Family Association, Mike Bickle of the International House of Prayer-Kansas City, Tony Evans of the Urban Alternative, and James and Shirley Dobson.
Although there’s no official connection, the leaders of many Madison area churches will be gathering this Friday evening for another in a series of prayer and worship events called Worshipping and Waiting Together.
Worshipping and Waiting Together will begin at 7pm, Friday, August 5, 2011 at City Church, 4909 E. Buckeye Road. The evening is devoted to worship, prayer, and seeking God for revival.
“People who feel a strong connection to The Response in Houston, but can’t make it to Houston, are invited to join us for Worshipping and Waiting Together,” said Tom Flaherty, senior pastor of City Church.
