Funding Your Vision in the New Economy
(Madison, WI) — A one-day workshop to orient Madison-area non-profit organizations and churches to the prospects of the post-recession economy will be held Friday, March 11th, sponsored by madisonchristians.com. The workshop is open to Executive Directors, Pastors, Development Directors, Board members, and volunteers.
The workshop will be led by Jerry Twombly, who has almost 40 years of experience working with non-profits. He is associated with BGW Development Group, an International Development Consulting Firm. (http://bgwservices.com/)
The recovery from the Great Recession seems to be underway, although whether it will continue, falter, or fizzle, remains to be seen. Even as the recovery works its way out Jerry Twombly believes that non-profit organizations cannot expect to operate as they did before.
Twombly says the post-recession economy will continue to squeeze non-profits and their donors. Local, state, and federal governments will need more revenue than ever before, due to their unmanageable deficits. That will translate into fees for services to non-profits, while tax-deductible contributions shrink.
It will be the people who are served by non-profits who will feel the ultimate impact. “Well over 90 percent of non-profits are reporting significant declines in income,” Twombly says. “Nearly all are making financial cutbacks including eliminating services, personnel, and programs. Everyone is beginning to feel the pinch.”
madisonchristians.com recognizes the value that the non-profit sector provides to the community. We also recognize the threat that “significant declines in income” will have on the people they serve. That’s why we are initiating this workshop.
