Damascus Road Church welcomed its new pastor, Tim Dunn, on July 10, 2011. Dunn was the final selection in a nationwide search that attracted more than 300 applicants. Prior to coming to Damascus Road Church, Tim served as the lead pastor of The Bridge, a replanted, revitalized urban, university-oriented church in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Tim Dunn brings a history of empowering leadership and a solid commitment to the gospel to a congregation known for its cutting edge commitment to social justice and recovery ministries.
During his tenure at The Bridge, Dunn replanted a congregation from the suburbs into the inner city, rebuilt its infrastructure and positioned it for a strategic merger prior to his departure. Tim and his wife Ashley have two young children.
Damascus Road Church was founded in April 2008 by a core group that included former Mad City Church pastors Shane Holden and Joe Steinke. During the summer of 2009, the congregation moved into its current location, the former Dollar General Space in the Rolling Meadows Shopping Center, 4642 Cottage Grove Road, Madison. In April 2010, Senior Pastor Shane Holden announced his resignation, to take a position at First Evangelical Free Church in Onalaska, Wisconsin. He is currently Senior Pastor at that church. Founding co-pastor Joe Steinke resigned in November 2010 to take a national leadership role in 24-7 Prayer USA, headquartered in Kansas City, Missouri.
Damascus Road Church is affiliated with Converge Worldwide and Converge Great Lakes. Executive Minister Dr. Dwight Perry served as a consultant to the leadership team during the transition. Ezra Church founding Pastor Dave Tilma also provided consultative leadership during a portion of the transition.
Dwight Clough, an elder at Damascus Road Church, served as its Search Team Chair.
