"… the people living in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned." — Matthew 4:16
Where is the land of darkness? It is inside us.
Read the verse, study the chapter and consider: The darkness is within. There wasn’t some fog over Galilee any more than there is some special fog over the place you live or the place I live. Whenever there is darkness, it is within.
So where does Jesus need to be revealed? He needs to be revealed inside each of us.
When I originally wrote this in 2004, I had just visited my mechanic. He gave me the bad news that my car needed $700 in repairs. Bad news because I $700 was, for me, as out of reach as a million dollars at that time. For me the darkness was somewhere between "my God shall supply all your needs" and $700+ that I didn’t have … somewhere between the peace that God knows how to handle this and the anxiety that says, "I’ve exhausted all my resources; I have nothing left for a problem like this."
I don’t even remember, to be honest, how the Lord supplied the funds to repair the car. I just know that I’ve faced hundreds (yes, hundreds) of these moments in my lifetime. Here I am. Every time the Lord came through. What I knew in theory, God revealed in real life.
That is my message to you today. Jesus is to be revealed in you. What you know with your mind, Jesus means for you to know with your life.
Be encouraged!
