Here’s the third verse from Liza’s list:
The wicked man flees though no one pursues, but the righteous are as bold as a lion. — Proverbs 28:1
Any of us who have lived any length of time know that sin never lives up to its promise. Sin promises pleasure, power and peace, but it delivers heartache, bondage and fear.
Why is that? Because sin is a false solution. Another bowl of popcorn, another car, another job, another drink or another spouse will never satisfy the craving that is inside. Sin feeds on deception and deception feeds our fears.
Why can the righteous be bold? Why did David march out to meet Goliath with no doubt about the outcome of the battle? Why did Shadrach, Meschach and Abednego answer Nebuchadnezzar with reckless abandon? Why did Jesus sleep in the bottom of the boat during the raging storm?
Because they knew the truth. They saw things from God’s perspective. It is no accident that Jesus says, "The truth will set you free."
Truth vs. deception. That is the battle that goes on deep inside your soul. That is where God wants to meet you to give you the peace and courage you desire.
Be encouraged!
