… punishing the children for the sin of the fathers … — Exodus 20:5
Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” — Matthew 19:14
We followers of Jesus Christ have a new Father and He doesn’t sin. When we bring Him into the dark places of our lives, the sins of our earthly fathers lose their grip on us. We are set free from their downward pull.
I so much want to be a good father to my children. But, like anyone else, I make mistakes. I mess up. What recourse do we have to free our children from our own imperfections?
Connect them with the Father in heaven.
One of God’s greatest gifts to us is His offer to receive our little children (and our grown up children) into His arms. Jesus will carry their anger, satisfy their desires, heal their hurts, and remove the lies they came to believe. Our sins may have left their mark on our children, but God’s grace erases the stains, blots out the sentence, and heals our homes.
Be encouraged!
