When is the last time you went to your church’s web site? This week? Last month? Last YEAR?
Most people have Internet access at work or at home now. Wireless access is now spreading throughout Madison. The web has even been called the number one media source. The web isn’t going anywhere, it’s here to stay. So is your church using it as much as they should?
What can a church web site do? Besides just giving information for people interested in attending, it can do quite a bit. It can list upcoming events, small group meetings, sermon topics, prayer requests, study materials and the list goes on. The sky is the limit, really.
The Internet and the World Wide Web is a tool. Yeah, you hear about all the bad things on it, but it’s doing a lot of good as well. It’s time to get more good things on the web. And how about a church that would actually pay for online advertising to promote their site and their church? There are ads for everything else out there. Ten years from now, we’ll look back and wonder why the web during 2006 had so few churches on it and why they weren’t doing more with it. We’re in the early days of this still and it’s unchartered territory in many ways.
Yeah, I make web sites for a living, so I might be argued that I have a biased view on this topic, but the web really IS a tool. It really is something that can be used to communicate. It’s more accessible to everyone now and will continue to be that way. We were commanded to go out into all the world and make disciples, right? Why no use the World Wide Web?
