Giving a new meaning to “men’s night out,” Promise Keepers kicked off its 2006 conference season this weekend with an estimated 7,500 men and boys at BankAtlantic Center in Fort Lauderdale.
“We are waiting to be used by God,” said Dr. Tom Fortson, president / CEO of Promise Keepers. “Let us allow Him to have his way in us.”
On a night when the Miami Heat made history by earning their first-ever spot in the NBA Finals, spiritual fortunes were made as 225 men committed themselves to a relationship with Jesus Christ. Dr. Bob Reccord introduced men to the story of Jesus Christ, as he told his own story of an alcoholic and abusive dad, and his own spiritual fulfillment.
The conference concluded this afternoon. Next weekend Promisekeepers moves to Baltimore, Maryland. After that there are 17 more Promisekeeper weekends on the schedule, including Sept. 8-9 in Milwaukee, wrapping up Oct. 20-21 in Los Angeles. For more information go to www.promisekeepers.org/.
