City Church will host a Service of Remembrance on Tuesday, December 16, for the entire ALCS and Madison church community. We invite you to gather with us for worship and prayer as we remember the events of last year, honor those most deeply affected, reflect on God’s sustaining faithfulness, and seek His continued healing and peace. There will not be a livestream of this service.
By Nicole Pollack – Wisconsin State Journal – Luther Memorial Church on Madison’s Near West Side is asking the developer of a planned 15-story student apartment building to compensate it for what it projects will be lost output from the church’s new solar panels and damage to its century-old sandstone exterior by leaving the church covered in shadow for much of the day. On Friday, members of Luther Memorial made their way past the soaring stone arches and ornamental windows to celebrate Twelfth Night Epiphany Eve, the 12th and final night of the Christmas season, with Holy Communion. A cheery reception would follow. It’s been a festive year at Luther Memorial, the elegant, towering neo-Gothic church at 1021 University Ave. that has just marked a century in Madison. The Rev. John Wille, pastor of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Tomah, has been elected president of the South Wisconsin District of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod at the district’s 51st Regular Convention, which was held last week at Concordia University Wisconsin in Mequon. The Rev. Jeffrey Meyer, pastor of Christ Memorial Lutheran Church in Fitchburg, was elected third vice president. Read more.
