Many true evangelical believers live in that war-torn nation, and they are not all in the “safe” areas, away from the rockets, bombs and troops.Many Christians are among the hundreds of thousands of Lebanese already displaced by the escalating conflict. MADISON — Eight people from around the Diocese of Madison will soon cross an ocean to return a visit paid by a delegation from the diocese’s sister diocese last year. The delegation will leave Madison Sunday, July 23, and will return Friday, Aug. 4. This is the third delegation to be sent from the Diocese of Madison to the Diocese of Navrongo-Bolgatanga. Madison’s Door Creek Church finally has a senior pastor again, two and a half years after the sudden death of former pastor Brad Smith. The church has announced that Mark Maillefer, 47, will join the church staff on August 1st. He’s scheduled to give his first sermon on Sunday, September 3rd.

Putting alleluias into action, three African-American churches in Milwaukee are riding reality television to a higher level by renovating their buildings through TV One network’s "Divine Restoration." Participating churches gather willing souls to do the labor. The production company provides a renovation producer to help with planning and seeks donated time, materials and appliances from manufacturers and businesses. Sometimes it helps churches find architects or designers. Read more.

Commentary By the looks of things, it seems that compromise on the contentious issue of immigration is unlikely, if not impossible. The House’s position has been hard-line: We have to stop illegal immigration before we even consider ways we could process illegal immigrants into America properly.
