Walter Kaiser, a distinguished expert on the Old Testament and the General Editor of Zondervan’s NIV Archaeological Study Bible, will return to Madison for a lecture on the Archaeology of the Bible next Sunday, March 1, 2009. Dr. Walter Kaiser is President Emeritus and Distinguished Professor of Old Testament and Ethics at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. He lectures all of the world and has just returned to his home in eastern Wisconsin after a lecture series in Israel.

Some Americans are more loyal to their toothpaste or toilet paper than to their religious denomination, making those consumers more choosy about Charmin or Colgate than they are about church, according to a new survey.According to a Phoenix-based research firm, 16% of Protestants say they would consider only one denomination, while 22% of them would use only one brand of toothpaste and 19% would use just one brand of bathroom tissue.Read more of this story.
HOT SPRINGS, Ark.—Rick Mann is a chaplain with horse sense. Every day, he ministers to people who make their living, and often their home, on the backstretch of Oaklawn Park racetrack. As the racing season begins, he’s one of the few people at the track not praying that he picked a winner.
