Madison’s Lighthouse Christian School is one of 64 additional private schools in Wisconsin that can enroll students this fall using taxpayer-funded vouchers, the Department of Public Instruction announced Thursday. The West Side school, at 5202 Regent St., had 31 eligible applicants, ranking it 25th among the schools or school systems that signed up last month for an expansion of the program.

“Going to walk with the Prince of Peace, down by the riverside,” they sang in the Tenney Park Shelter this evening at the 16th annual Lanterns for Peace observance, which marks the anniversary of the bombing of Hiroshima on August 6, 1945. For no better reason than that Jesus is the Prince of Peace, it was a good evening to be present. The event is sponsored by a number of left-leaning peace organizations, such as Physicians for Social Responsibility, Pax Christi Madison, and the Madison Area Peace Coalition.

MILWAUKEE -The Wisconsin Department of Justice announced Monday that Wisconsin officials participated in a large-scale, FBI-led child sex trafficking operation that rescued 10 children. The operation is known nationwide as Operation Cross Country VII, and the three-day operation in Wisconsin was conducted in the areas of Milwaukee, Madison, Wisconsin Dells and the Fox Valley, according to the release.
