Dear Sisters,
A week doesn’t go by that I don’t meet some amazing new woman or reconnect with someone in the Body of Christ who is stepping into something new and fascinating.
My long-time friend Marcia Bosscher just sent me a letter about her new venture. After many years as a mom-volunteer-woman of all trades, she’s joined InterVarsity as the director of "Graduate and Professional Women’s" ministry. In short, she’ll be coordinating and doing ministry with graduate students and young professional women trying to make their way in the whirling world.
This is an important ministry. Many grad students are in limbo. Not settled where they live and not sure where they’re going. My daughter and son in law have been emotionally "camping" for the past two and one half years in San diego while she’s in grad school. Not really able to settle in and root themselves. But, there too long to remain detached. their church has been an important settling place for them…A spirit-filled Vineyard fellowship with a heart and flexibility for students.
Marcia will be finding ways to support and reach young women in that "in-between" place of grad school or entering the working world.
She’s going to be looking for mentors and "godly older women" (Yeah, I know…when did I become one of those godly older women?) to come alongside grad students and 20-somethings at crossroads in their lives.
Are you a professional woman in law? business? Social services? Education? Communications? Perhaps you’d like to befriend and be there for a young woman in transition. Perhaps you’d be willing to share what you’ve learned in the business or working world with other women?
Interested? Love college-age and 20-ish women? Contact Marcia at mbosscher@intervarsity.org See what she has to offer!
Bless you with moments of silence in the midst of the whirling.
Julia
