The Madison Christian Giving Fund (MCGF), which has raised and disbursed over $1 million to local Christian ministries over the past decade, is in a leadership transition. Fred Grossenbach, who has been a key MCGF leader and most recently served as executive director, is stepping down.
“Due to unexpected health issues that have prevented Fred from being at 100% capaciity, he has decided to step away from his leadership role at MCGF,” reports an April 13 post on the MCGF website.
The article includes a lengthy reflection from Fred on why MCGF was begun, on what it has accomplished in the past 10 years, and its prospects for the future.
“When someone is being led by God to take action to support the needs in our community, we want to support them,” he writes. “We love to provide the seed money to enable them to launch their ministries.”
Tom and Barb Hoffner, who are considered the founders of MCGF, called Fred “a godly pillar of our community and a faithful servant of the Lord Jesus Christ. Fred’s life has touched so many with the love of Christ. He has brought excellent leadership to MCGF and we will miss him tremendously.”
Ever since he retired as an executive with IBM several decades ago, Fred Grossenbach has made supporting the Christian community of Madison his business. Beyond MCGF, he has worked with Care Net Pregnancy Center of Dane County, Lighthouse Church, the Jericho Project of many years ago, and many others too numerous to mention. Fred played a key role in launching allgodspeople.com, the predecessor to MadisonChristians.com. Full disclosure, the website transition and rebranding to MadisonChristians.com was funded by a grant from MCGF.
It’s a rare community that is blessed by a Christian leader who has a community-wide vision, plus the energy and the executive skills to lead toward that vision. Thank you Fred Grossenbach.
