I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone- for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. — 1 Timothy 2:1-2
Leaders make mistakes; God doesn’t. Years ago I nearly lost my faith because I put too much stock in fallible leaders who disappointed me. Leaders are human, just like we are.
Mentors are great, but don’t become a disciple of one, unless that One is Jesus.
Some of what the fallen leader said in the past may ring hollow now. But truth is truth. Truth doesn’t hinge on the integrity of the leader; it hinges on the integrity of God.
A leader’s sin never excuses or justifies your own sin.
The enemy targets leaders. That’s one reason why God commands us to pray for them. From the enemy’s perspective, he can do far more damage if he gets a leader to fall.
It is not your fault that the leader fell. His choices are his own responsibility, just as your choices are your own responsibility.
Remember that the fallen leader and his family need your prayers now more than ever.
The fallen leader needs time to recover. He may or may not be restored to a position of leadership, depending on the nature of his fall.
Even if a leader falls, that does not invalidate his entire ministry. Much of what he did or said may be good and right. Learn what you can from what the leader did right, just as you learn what you can from what he did wrong.
Be encouraged!
