… He was buried … 1 Corinthians 15:4
There comes a moment when it seems like the plan of God has failed. God’s work seems to come to a stop. All we hoped for lies silent and unmoving. While we look at each other in bewilderment, the world carries on its smug celebration.
The Teacher was dead. Now there was no one to make sense of a senseless world of Roman occupation and religious hypocrisy. The Healer was dead. Now life and health belonged only to the lucky, medical care to the rich. The Friend of sinners was dead. Now shame would exclude us forever from the welcoming arms of God.
Or so it seemed.
There comes a time when it seems like the God we know is sleeping, or has somehow stepped out of the universe, and nobody knows when He will be back.
Jesus was buried. The grave clothes were wrapped around him. The heavy stone was rolled in place. The Roman guard was dispatched and a seal was placed on the tomb. It seemed so permanent.
God has not forgotten you. The end must come before there can be a new beginning. And sunrise holds more in store than we could ever ask or imagine.
Be encouraged!
