Many of you have expressed interest in my article "In defense of Theophostic." I just completed another update of that article for those of you who are interested.
The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us. We have seen His glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth. — John 1:14
The Word became flesh. The Word did not become a list, or a book, or a collection of answers. The Word became flesh and lived among us.
We often have questions and we sometimes think that answers will satisfy. But they will not. Richard Wurmbrand, who spent years in prison for his faith, writes this in Tortured for Christ:
"God is ‘the Truth.’ The Bible is the ‘truth about the Truth.’ Theology is the ‘truth about the truth about the truth.’ … Christian people live in these many truths about the Truth, and, because of them, have not ‘the Truth.’ Hungry, beaten and doped, we had forgotten theology and the Bible. We had forgotten the ‘truths about the Truth,’ therefore we lived in ‘the Truth.’ … In our darkest hours of torture the Son of man came to us, making the prison walls shine like diamonds and filling the cells with light. Somewhere, far away, were the torturers below us in the sphere of the body. But the spirit rejoiced in the Lord. We would not have given up this joy for that of kingly palaces." (pp. 72-73)
Glory, grace and truth come together as a package, because they come to us in the form of a Person. Many of us seek answers, but God offers us something far more and far better than answers. God offers us His Son.
Be encouraged!
