Madison schools are failing minority children who are poor. Madison’s racial disparity and achievement gap offers little hope for minority parents with limited means. Their only choice was the public schools until Lighthouse Christian school entered the Wisconsin Parental Choice program (the only Madison school participating in the state voucher program).

Lighthouse Christian School operates as a ministry of Lighthouse Church at 5202 Regent Street on Madison’s west side. Students at Lighthouse school outperform state public and private school test scores for low-income students (School Report Card 2015-2016, Department of Public Instruction).

• Comprehensive standards-based curriculum approved by DPI; WRISA &
NAEYC accredited
• Full Spanish immersion and Mandarin instruction
• Current Enrollment: 95 students in 4K – Grade 6
• 47% Hispanic, 28% African American, 15% White, 10% Asian
• 66 low-income students
• 57 participate in the Voucher program
• 8 Participate in the Special Needs Scholarship Program
Lighthouse Church and Christian School is in the final stages of purchasing new property at 6400 Schroeder Road which, after remodeling, will open up room for 55 more students in the 2017-2018 school year and ultimately up to 275 total students.
