No surprise regarding Madison in the new rankings of Bible-minded cities, issued the Barna polling organization. Wisconsin’s capital city places 75th on the list, while the top cities are in the southeast, the traditional Bible Belt.
The buckle of the Bible belt appears to be Knoxville, TN, Barna’s most Bible minded city. At the bottom of the list, cities in New England, with Providence, Rhode Island coming in at number 96. The rankings are based on 42,855 interviews and the study was commissioned by the American Bible Society.
Madison’s placement may be most interesting in relation to other cities in the state. Madison ranks higher than Green Bay/Appleton (78th) and Milwaukee (82nd). That despite, as the report notes, more than 1 in 4 Green Bay residents attend a Lutheran church. Further state information is available for download with a payment of $99.
