Back to Schools – Right Around the Corner

It feels like summer just started but already we need to think about going back into the schools! One of the best things about heading back to school is the chance for a fresh start. A new year, new teachers, perhaps even a new school offers children an opportunity to come to know Christ as their Savior.

Praise God that he allows us to always start over. Jeremiah writes that the Lord’s mercies “are new every morning” (Lamentations 3:23a). With God’s help we can begin another year of Good News Clubs with a clean slate and a new attitude, determined to reach more children this year than last.

Good News Club^® is a ministry of Child Evangelism Fellowship^® in which trained teachers meet with groups of children in schools, homes, community centers, churches, apartment complexes, or just about anywhere the children can easily and safely meet. Clubs will generally meet once a week, from October through May. Each action-packed week includes a Bible story, songs, Scripture memory, a mission’s story, and review games or other activities focused on the lesson’s theme.  As with all the CEF ministries, the purpose of a Good News Club is to evangelize boys and girls with the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ, disciple them in the Word of God, and establish them in a local church for Christian living.

Get Involved

You are probably asking what this has to do with you. Did you know there are many ways for you to be involved in a club (or many clubs) and be a part of reaching the children for Christ? Everyone involved, from the teacher to the one who prays for the club has an active part in reaching the children. Here is a list of some of the ways you could become involved: Bible teacher, Teacher Assistant, Prayer Coordinator, Refreshment Coordinator, and Secretary.

Even a church can get involved as a sponsor for a club or two! Many churches have caught the vision and have partnered with CEF to adopt a school as their mission field. They pray for the children, recruit teachers and seek ways to promote the club to the elementary children in the school. They also help to ensure the children who are reached at club find a home in a church to further their spiritual growth. And CEF will be there alongside everyone to provide training, enrichment classes, materials, and support.
