Chaplaincy training is being offered May 2-6, 2011, here in Madison. Crisis Response Wisconsin and Capital Chaplains are hosting International Fellowship of Chaplains (I.F.O.C.) to provide Basic Chaplaincy Training.
The purpose of the Basic Chaplaincy Training is to provide core training for workplace chaplains, first responders and church-based crises teams in the area of Critical Incident Stress Management, Death Notification, and Spirituality and Trauma. Additional topics to be covered include how better to serve those dealing with Depression, Grief and Loss, Death and Dying and Suicide.
Capital Chaplains has been operating in Madison for six years and is the sole provider of workplace chaplains in the region, currently working with 11 client organizations. Through those 11 organizations Capital Chaplains ministers to over 500 employees and their families.
“As conflicted as the workplace is for many people, the reality is that for a majority of employees work has become their primary place of community,” said Steve Cook, the founder of Capital Chaplains. “What an incredible privilege it is to provide help and hope to company owners, managers and employees (and their families) by serving through a Chaplain Assistance Program.”

About IFOC:
The International Fellowship of Chaplains (IFOC) seeks to see trained and licensed chaplains providing meaningful, life changing service to the communities in which they live. They work under the principle that chaplains can best serve their communities when they maintain the highest standards of accountability, and seek to prepare themselves academically, spiritually, and professionally. The IFOC understands that by serving in every sector of community life, chaplains can provide connections for people throughout various sectors of their communities. For this reason, the IFOC works to train and support chaplains who are then able to interface with all people within their communities for the purpose of promoting tolerance and understanding.
