The unfolding of your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple. — Psalm 119:130 NIV
"What’s happening to me doesn’t make any sense."
Sometimes the troubles of life are beyond our capacity to comprehend. Sometimes even everyday stress can leave us in a fog of confusion.
In our house we have four children. We are always looking for better ways to get our children on the same page with us when it comes to keeping organized. Shoes, for example, go in a certain place. If you leave one in the back yard and stuff the other under the kitchen table, you probably won’t be able to find them when it’s time to go someplace. I tell these things to my children, and sometimes I see a glimmer of recognition. We were designed for order. We can’t function without it.
When there are places in our hearts that are in chaos because we can’t put what has happened to us in any kind of category that makes sense, Jesus is there, bringing light into the darkness. Remember at the dawn of creation that the earth was formless and empty, that darkness was over the face of the deep. But the Spirit of the Lord was hovering over that chaos and confusion. Likewise, when there is darkness inside, God is there, ready to speak His words, "Let there be light."
