Madison placed 81st on Men’s Health magazine’s Holy Hometown’s list. That’s just behind Los Angeles and three places ahead of New York City. A fascinating new website devoted to New York City’s religious diversity has just started a series of reports on NYC’s evangelical resurgence. You can read the first report at: http://www.nycreligion.info/?p=1165.
The story reports: “In the last two years there has at times been one new evangelical church founded every Sunday in Manhattan.” The article has a map showing 197 evangelical churches in Manhattan. Twenty-five percent of them are 60 years old or more. Thirty-nine percent of them have been founded in the last ten years. Fascinating information about our largest city.
What is Madison’s evangelical history? What do you remember?
