News Release
Madison, WI — The Family Research Institute of Wisconsin ("Institute") announced today that it has released its 2006 Voter Information Publication (VIP). The VIP includes incumbents’ voting records on selected bills and candidates’ responses to a wide range of survey statements.
"The VIP is a great resource for voters and helps hold elected officials and candidates accountable to them," said Institute CEO Julaine Appling. "Voters can use the information in the VIP as they prepare to vote in the upcoming elections in September and November. We have also included the wording of the Marriage Protection Amendment and the advisory referendum on the death penalty that will be on the November ballot."
A total of 283 candidates who qualified for the September 12 primary ballot received surveys, including candidates for US Senate, US House of Representatives, State Assembly, State Senate, Governor, Lieutenant Governor and Attorney General.
"In the past we have included candidates’ qualified survey responses only in the primary election edition," said Appling. "This year we will also include them in the general election edition."
The VIP is intended strictly for educational purposes and is not intended to influence, directly or indirectly, the outcome of any election or legislation.
Print copies for the primary election will be available the week of August 21st. The VIP is now available online at www.fri-wi.org. The VIP general election edition will be available by the end of September. For more information, call 608-256-3228 or visit www.fri-wi.org.
