NEWS RELEASE
Middleton Outreach Ministry is saddened to announce the resignation of Dietrich Gruen, its Executive Director since 1997. His planned departure follows an eleven-year tenure, during which the organization grew nine-fold in revenues and significantly increased its program offerings directed towards helping "neighbors in need" in Middleton and Madison’s west side.
Gruen noted that the administrative responsibilities of effectively managing a robust, growing organization increasingly pulled him away from his passion for ministry. He was instrumental in February in formulating a new Board of Directors comprised of local business and community leaders. Gruen added, "The experience and leadership on the new Board has now afforded me the opportunity to begin exploring ministry opportunities outside of MOM. I begin my new journey of faith, uncertain of what the future holds, but knowing this beloved organization is in very capable hands. I leave with mixed feelings of sadness and relief, pride and gratitude."
Mike Kutchin, Board President, expressed his deep regret in accepting Dietrich’s resignation, indicating that his contribution to the organization and the community has been immeasurable. Kutchin indicated that Gruen has agreed to remain with the organization to assist in the transition of finding a new executive director. "The Board believes that Dietrich will provide valuable insights during this important period, as they work together to position the organization for more community impact and future growth. The Board remains 100% committed to the MOM mission. The Board appreciates Dietrich’s willingness to help ensure MOM remains the important Middleton community asset that he has grown it to be."
Middleton Outreach Ministry leads a community-wide effort in providing services that connect neighbors for good, including rental assistance, emergency aid, a self-serve food pantry and clothing closet. MOM also coordinates the Project for Older People (POP), which promotes independent living for our senior citizens. Additionally, eight MOM staff and hundreds of volunteers coordinate a number of seasonal programs, such as the recently completed school supply initiative and the upcoming Thanksgiving baskets and the Christmas community meal.
