His [Moses’] sister stood at a distance to see what would happen to him. Then Pharaoh’s daughter went down to the Nile to bathe, and her attendants were walking along the river bank. She saw the basket among the reeds and sent her slave girl to get it. She opened it and saw the baby. He was crying, and she felt sorry for him. "This is one of the Hebrew babies," she said. Then his sister asked Pharaoh’s daughter, "Shall I go and get one of the Hebrew women to nurse the baby for you?" — Exodus 2:4-7
Moses’ sister completes the puzzle. Here’s a baby who needs a mother’s care. Let me help you.
I like practical people because I’m not naturally practical. I married a practical person, and at least once a day she brings me back to earth.
Pharaoh’s daughter and Moses’ sister team up to complete the rescue designed by God. Together they form something of great value: practical compassion.
God in His wisdom will bring people into our lives – and you may be one of those people – who will take all our grand intentions and put feet on them. Charlie Brown once said, "I love humanity; it’s people I can’t stand." Practical Christians will show us how to take our love for humanity and translate it into love for people – love that can be felt and received.
Thank God for practical people!
Be encouraged!
