Most American boys Chaddy’s age would be playing Little League. But Pat Stendal’s son was stranded in a tribal village where the locals were known to poison outsiders. And, with the airplane out of commission, for three days there was no way to reach him. This first volume of Minnesota Mom introduces us to a series of "co-incidences" and miracles, starting in the 1800s, that paved the way for God to change the face of an entire nation. Here is a story that will change the way you view our world. www.dwightclough.com/books.html
Like one who takes away a garment on a cold day, or like vinegar poured on soda, is one who sings songs to a heavy heart. — Proverbs 25:20
Most people are confused about compassion. For example, most people will try to get a baby to stop crying. But why do we do that? Is it because we care about the baby, or is it because the baby’s cry "gets to us"? When people are sad, we try to cheer them up. Again, why? Is it because we care about the person who is sad, or is it because something in us can’t tolerate it when someone else is in pain?
There really is a difference, and the difference is profound.
We love to "rescue," but "rescuing" is not what people need. Jesus has a better way. He doesn’t insult us when we are in pain by trying to minimize that pain, or by trying to get us feeling better so He can feel better about Himself. Jesus lets us feel what’s really there – as bad as it is. And then, if we invite Him, He steps in.
Did you know that to be in the presence of Jesus is to be in heaven? Jesus doesn’t belittle pain, but the worst pain is small compared to power of His healing, comforting, freeing presence.
