Dear Madison Sisters,
Just yesterday I met my friend Michelle Sugarman (she’s a life coach and very, very interesting woman worth knowing!) at the Muse Cafe over on Old Sauk Road. We were talking about scheduling one of her "what does clutter mean to me and why do I have such a hard time getting rid of it" workshops at Faith Community (my church.) And, in walked another worth-knowing, wonderful woman, Carolyn (Mary Kay person, lovely woman, creative, big heart….I really like her). Turns out, Carolyn was Michelle’s next appointment.
I say this to point out that we’re a small community here in Madison. Carolyn knows Michelle who’s a friend of Diane, who’s a long-time sister/friend of Shirley who supported me during some really dark times….you get the idea. What goes around really does come around – to the glory of God!
I want to introduce you to another friend – Sherry Oliver and the women (and men, too) of Full Circle Ministries. These folks are truly the hands and feet of Jesus to the "least" (or maybe to the "most" – who can see with the eyes of Jesus?)
Full Circle Ministries has been a presence on State Street for some years. You’d find them partnering with YWAM folks, handing out sandwiches and warm socks to homeless folks in Peace Park. On any given day you might find them meeting with folks at the edge – or over – of homelessness. Providing a warm place to talk. A center with a phone and support for a job or housing search. Connections with social services. Just a caring person to listen and encourage.
Now, Full Circle has moved to 1103 Jenifer Street – in a building gloriously named "God’s House." Two churches and Full Circle share this turn-of-the-century building right in the middle of the Willie Street neighborhood.
I’m NOT writing this to add one more "you should feel guilty and do something" word to the already blaring input we receive daily in the media and even in the church. I’m here to offer an opportunity for those people to whom the Lord is speaking about homelessness and at-the-edge people in need of some encouragement.
Sherry and the Full Circle folks could use some help. Are you clever with remodeling? Know how to tape drywall or paint? Would you enjoy cooking or serving meals? Contact Full Circle at 251 0555.
I’m going to write a little more about this tomorrow.
Perhaps you are one of those to whom the Lord is speaking. If you are, bless you, bless you, bless you!
Love, Julia
