Jesus said this to Jairus’ household when they thought their daughter was dead. He also said it to his disciples when he calmed the storm. What is He is asking us to believe in these chaotic times?
There is violence in Madison, racial disparities here and across the country, lack of trust and confidence in our political institutions and leaders, corporate greed, unchecked secularism and threats to our religious freedom, a sexual revolution that threatens the future of families, a massive refugee invasion of Europe that is described as the worst humanitarian crisis since WW2. There is no fear of God, there is no shame. Every time we read a paper or watch the news on TV we are confronted with these realities. They are all visible and in your face, all the time. What are we to do?
I am convinced that the Kingdom of God is advancing in these days in powerful ways. It’s just not as visible. The victories don’t make the front page, or any page for that matter. I am persuaded that every act of kindness, word of encouragement, or work of service and love performed by any one of us is used by God to advance His Kingdom. He is still in charge. His ways are not our ways.
So don’t fret, don’t despair, seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and His Presence, and live in a manner worthy of the gospel by His power. Just believe.
Finally, beloved, if you see God at work in your life or in the lives of others, would you share it with us? You can comment on this page or share and comment on this article on Facebook or Twitter. God is at work. Just believe.
